Beauty in the Simple…
Signs of Life…
Lately, the rain has been steady, giving life to the roots below that depend on it’s sustenance…
I sat at the fire pit, enjoying a warm cup of 2013 Aged Pu’er tea… the wood to wet for fire… I sat sipping, watching the natural world coming to life around me…
I keep the yard neat as possible, but in reality that’s not what a natural landscape looks like… it is wild, living, nourishing and beautiful… more so leaving it “messy”, it is the little piece of paradise to the wildlife who find it…
“A neatly landscaped, heavily mulched forest I’ve never seen, but the peace, beauty and serenity found there breathtaking…”
Bees, squirrels, birds, and plants are busy performing their spring duties, preparing for the season of life and work before them…
I watched as the honey and bumblebee’s scanned and hovered, searching for spring delights… settling on the plethora of violets covering my yard…
The squirrels, delighting in the sunflower seeds laid out for them… as they provide plenty of amusement, producing laughter in between the sips of Pu’erh bliss…
As I take a quick stroll around the garden area to determine my planting this year, a couple of my favorites are already beginning to produce…
The oregano emerges from its blanket of leaves, the smaller tender leaves I harvest most evenings for a hearty cup of fresh tea, as it’s powerful properties protect and prepare me for the season ahead…
After the birds have their nests prepared, I’ll clean out the dead debris and make it pretty… meanwhile, I’ll make their chores a little easier…
The gooseberry bush after taking a couple years to establish itself from its prior prairie abode, now shows signs of producing its tangy and sour berries, of which I am a fan… I keep watching for when they arrive, as the birds like them also… I do share…
Finally I set back down, watching my ground squirrel as he eyes the seed at my feet… remaining still, he eats there remaining ever vigilant … soon he will eat at the table next to me as I sip my tea and watch…
I reflect on the peacefulness of this night… it didn’t cost me a dime, yet the rewards I received… priceless…
Take or make time this week to set quietly, enjoy a good book, a cup of your favorite drink, or take a walk… whatever you can do… I know it’s not easy, but so satisfying I would encourage you to give it a try…
I think you will find much inspiration and rest for your soul, and discover the beauty in the simple things of life…
“Everybody needs beauty...places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul alike.”
Until next time my friends,
